1948 yılında doğdu. Edinburgh'da Tıp Hukuku doçentidir. Bu yüzden romanlarında tıp ve hukuk önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. Şimdiye kadar 50'den fazla kitap yazmıştır. Bunların çoğu çocuk kitabıdır. Çocukluğu Zimbabve'de geçti. İki çocuğu var ve Afrika'yı çok seviyor.
