İngiliz romancı, gazeteci ve oyun yazarı. 175 roman, 24 oyun ve sayısız makale kaleme almıştır. Kendi zamanının polisiye yazınında en önemli isim oydu. 20'li yıllarda romanlarının satışı Charles Dickens veya İncil ile kıyaslanabilecek ölçüdeydi. Greenwich'te 1875 yılında doğdu. Ebeveynleri Polly Richards ve Richard Horatio Edgar Marriott, aktörlük mesleğindeydiler. Genç Wallace 12 yaşında okulu bırakıp 18 yaşında orduya yazıldı. 1896 yılına dek, üç yıl boyunca ülkesinde hizmet verdi. O yıl Afrika'ya gönderildi. Çoğu romanı teybe okunduktan sonra sekreteri tarafından kaleme alınmıştır. Canlı diyaloglar konusundaki becerisi ona sinema sektörünün kapılarını açtı. 1931 tarihli Baskerville Tazısı filmi Wallace tarafından sinemaya uyarlanmıştı. 10 Şubat 1932'de, bir sinema başyapıtı, King Kong senaryosu üzerinde çalışırken yaşamını yitirdi.
